Homeownership for first responders and educators can oftentimes be a difficult goal to reach. Unfortunately, these high-stress and high-commitment careers don't typically come with high- paying salaries. That's where the HELPER Act comes in.

The HELPER Act will support the men and women teaching in our communities by giving them the ability to afford a home in those communities. By offering affordable mortgage possibilities along with no down payment or monthly mortgage insurance, the HELPER Act is a true bipartisan effort to enrich the lives of our local heroes.

Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), Jon Ossoff (D-GA), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Raphael Warnock (D-GA), Robert Menendez (D-NJ), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) introduced the legislation for the HELPER Act (known as S. 1514) on the Senate floor.

Representatives John Rutherford (FL-04), and Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) introduced the legislation for the HELPER Act (known as H.R. 3170) on the House floor in May of 2023.

In addition to the original two sponsors in the House, dozens of U.S. House Representatives from across the nation have spoken out in favor of the HELPER Act. With support from congressmen and women like David Valadao of California to Chrissy Houlahan of Pennsylvania, the HELPER Act is proud to have strong bipartisan support in the U.S. House of Representatives.

"I believe that American first responders deserve the same access to affordable housing benefits that I have as a veteran. I was inspired to do something to acknowledge their sacrifices for the greater good of the country."
